Updates on the Trip

Like I said last week, my family and I are currently in the U.S. to attend a conference, have a few meetings, speak in a few places, and meet up with family and friends. Carla and I have made this trip as single individuals and as a couple, but having Philip around has been the unique element this time.

Here are some updates on our trip:

  • We got delayed for seven hours! Thankfully, Carla and Philip are great at making adjustments. The keys for making the extra layover bearable: free wi-fi, securing a charging socket, and a baby who sleeps dutifully.
  • I’m so amazed at my wife’s ability to care for Philip no matter what. He’s growing very big and strong so keeping him in your arms for hours on the flight over is a real workout.
My beautiful wife. Still regal in her sleep.

  • A Baby > In-flight Entertainment System. I’m the kind of person who makes a list of every movie and tv show I wanna watch on the personal TV during my flight. But this time, between taking care of Philip and catching a few hours of sleep, I had absolutely no time or desire to watch TV. Philip and Carla are entertaining and diverting enough.
  • It’s great catching up with friends. With old friends, it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been apart. When you see each other again, it’s like you’re just continuing the conversation from months ago. These friends of ours in Michigan are no exception. The Magpantays (or Magpies, as we’ve come to call them) have been family friends for decades.
Great friends take unflattering pictures of you and post it for the whole world to see. Thanks Tito Joel! (click pic for source)

Now we’re getting ready to move again to another city for a few meetings, a speaking engagement, and to meet more friends! Pray for us!
